Ground Blinds
 

I am going to set up a ground blind in an area of overgrown vinyard. I plan on using some rope and brush from the area. It is mainly for my son who is new to hunting this year...so my question is do I leave one side off or do I cut some shooting holes for him to shoot through? It seems to me that it would be easier if I left a large piece out. I would be there with him when he hunts.

Any thoughts?

The more cover you have the better your chances of NOT being seen. If you do leave one side off then try to make it towards the area the deer aren' t going to be. Take wind into mind also, I' ve had deer almost walk right up to me when I was just standing next to a tree because the wind was just right. I' ve also built blinds with only one side, but I new the deer were only going to be in the area I was facing(for the most part). It really depends on your location compared to where the deer are. Thats what I was thinking. Keep the open side away from where the deer would be approaching and toward where I expected to shoot. They are pretty limited and funnelled through where I' m thinking about building the blind. Thanks for your help.
