Default My first deer

My family were always big bird hunters. But, never deer hunters. A few years ago I tried it but lived a long ways from family land and never had any luck. Finally years later and after moving back to my hometown and family land I get the first deer of my life.
Was a clean neck shot and he dropped in his tracks.

Harder to carry from the field than a brace of dead birds but just as fun.
Makes more meals too.

Having problems posting a working picture today. lol

It will be memorable. Big fat snowflakes and almost no wind. Had to get out of the blind several times to knock the snow off so it wouldn't keep falling down on me. (Which scared the crap out of me at 6:00 before the sun came up. LOL I was convinced that I had completely missed him since he disappeared so fast. I was certain enough that I almost just sat back down to wait for another deer. Then thought to myself "No, you took the shot, it's the sporting thing to do to go check just in case." and there he lay.

Good work! Yeah it is amazing how they can look like you missed them sometimes but you actually had a good shot.
