cell phone cord

Hey guys, I am looking for something that will attach my cell phone to my clothes while in the treestand. So that if I drop it while holding it, it won't fall from the tree. Probably would consist of a phone "holder"...perhaps rubber, the thing you put your phone in....that has a hole you can clip to, with a cord that also can clip to a latch or zipper on your harness or belt loop. Anyone have any suggestions?

Velcro on the back of the cellphone and on the back of your jacket Or where ever you will place it.

Just a suggestion, but maybe you could just leave the phone in yer pocket until you leave the stand... It's pretty hard to drop it if it's in yer pocket:confused0024:

I agree with LunkerDog! but it helps for me to have my cellphone on hand and facebook while on the LONG SITS!

Just the fact that a question like this could get a serious answer blows my mind.

How about the question of what generator is quiet enough to run at the base of my tree while I watch TV and run my video games in my stand ?????

Night Crawler 11-09-2013 10:51 AM

I have not bitch withh cell in stand. I use mine to surf the net during slow time.

Bullcamp82834 11-09-2013 11:16 AM

I'm not laughing at cell phones in the field.
But a special device that keeps you from dropping it ?
Now I'm laughing.

Yeah 10/ roger to that. I have never dropped mine. There is always a pocket to slip it in then glass a little or shoot a deer.

A big part of the reason I like to hunt is no phones, internet, wife, work. It's nice to get away from it all. I spend my time watching the squirels birds, and everything else during the "quiet times".

I hope you have close caption on? I know I mute mine when I am in the field, I've got a back packing app on my driod when I am in the woods so I don't get lost if I happen to get lost, lol! And if that happens I'll use my compass on my knife.

All we have is a trac phone and it won't get a signal unless you are on a roof or up in a tree. So if I fell from a tree stand, I would have to dial real quick!

I'm in complete agreement with flyinlowe. I like to be away from such things as phones, but I get it that guys need to be in contact with family in case of emergencies etc.

It's all relative to your personal situation. Myself, I got along great without a cell phone before there were such things as cell phones. Now my wife wants me to carry one in the field in case I get in trouble and need help. The phone stays in the truck.

If I DID carry a phone hunting and I WAS concerned about dropping it off a cliff I'd just tie a loop of 550 cord around it and tie the other end to a belt loop.

having a cell phone while hunting allows me to hunt six days a week. Sorry if that bothers some of you guys who probably also resent the invention of the wheel. In stone age speak, more hunting good, less hunting bad. Thanks for the help!

What we have here is a success to communicate.

If you need to carry a phone, carry it. If you prefer to leave it in the truck, leave it.
That was easy.

Otterbox makes a clip on attachment with retractable cord specifically made for utility workers. Check out their website.

Didn't see any replies that deserved a "thin skinned" response, but oh well... Maybe yer taking yourself just a little too seriously?:poke:

Maybe if you had explained the work thing to begin with you would have received some different responses, but don't fault folks for their responses to limited info... We're all entitled an opinion based on the info you initially provided.

That said, here ya go.

Leave the phone in the truck! If you need a phone or facebook to occupy your time in the stand then you need to get a better appreciation of the natural world. Time spent simply observing nature will help anybody be a better hunter. You will be amazed how much you will miss getting distracted by a phone.

Personally, if I had my way about it, I'd have shot Alexander Graham Bell when he invented the phone! I hate the things with a passion.

rockport 11-11-2013 12:03 AM

I just keep mine in my pack. I don't care to have a cellphone but I think it would be very selfish of me not to have one for emergencies having a family and all.

I guess I just never really worried about dropping it though.

NEhomer 11-11-2013 04:37 AM

No cell service where I hunt so case closed. I imagine I'd have mine but not use it much. Update on weather/wind could be useful.

Father Forkhorn 11-11-2013 05:28 AM

I'm just glad I have no cell phone.

OK here is my thought: A good stout rubber band or two around the middle tethered to a cord fastened inside your jacket would work and cost about 50 cents.

Truthfully, if I had my cell phone up with me in the tree, I would drop it for sure! I only hunt out of the tree on my own land, and my family knows where to find me should I not return.

If you really need one with you when hunting, why not just zip it up in your pants or jacket pocket?

OhioNovice 11-13-2013 02:30 PM

My wife would freak if I didnt take a phone with my in my stand. Granted I hardly ever have any service, but it is handy to have a weather/radar app.

Must be a small mind then. Many people now days carry cell phones into the woods for reasons THEY have. They could care less whether you approve or not. The OP didn't ask for snarky comments only for ideas that would help him with his problem. I guess you are still using a rock and spear to hunt with.
