Anyone from Kentucky

Just wondering if any of yall have been seeing much rut activity, especially in the Land between the Lakes area. I will be heading to Kentucky next Friday November 8th. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I live just west of the LBL area in Kentucky. I have not been able to hunt this week, but last weekend I saw one young buck show a little interest in pushing some does around. However, he quickly lost interest and went to spar with the other two bucks in the field. The signs indicate things are starting to heat up, but as of last weekend there wasn't much evidence of the rut starting. Just the bucks are clearly becoming less tolerant of each other.

In another week, things should be getting pretty good. Will you be gun hunting? Noticed you were coming in the day before gun season opens. Hopefully the rut is in full swing during gun season, otherwise all of the pressure tends to keep the mature bucks pretty grounded. Unfortunately I don't get to hunt any during gun season due to an agreement with the property owner, but if you've never been around for opening day of gun season in Ky, you are in for a treat (if you wanna call it that). Saturday morning will sound like a symphony of rifle shots... If you are hunting within LBL though, obviously you won't have to deal with gun hunters.

We will be gun hunting some private land in the Cadiz Ky area. We are heading up there this coming Friday to get ready for the season opener on Saturday. I sure hope the bucks are up on there feet.
