Default Antlers hitting the trees?

Hey gang, This morning I went hunting around 5-6 am that's pretty early for me, Anyways I've what sounded like wood hitting wood 3 consecutive times. Does this mean the rut is really getting under way?

I was always told that when a Sasquatch sees you he will bang a stick up against a tree. Seriuosly though it could have been deer fighting but in my experience antlers have little higher pitch to them than the dead sound wood makes.

I agree,I've had "something"bang on a tree in the dark while going in.It didn't sound like deer fighting.

The wind plays funny tricks in the dark.

Thanks guys, It was a higher pitch sound not a thud and it was 3 consecutive times. Then I heard a big branch crack, and that was it.

Bullcamp, It was calm for about 5 in the morning. No weeds were stirring or blowing no wind!

By the way I do not believe in Big Foot, How ever it could be out there...

Stay with it, and when you figure out what's making the strange noises let us know.

I don't believe in Bigfoot or other such mythical creatures either but I've heard noises in the woods at night that can't be attributed to any known species of wildlife. What made the noise? Beats me.

I've heard that often over the years. I always just assumed it was some animal stepping on a downed branch and breaking it.

I wonder whether it was a Great Blue Heron squawking.
