Blind Heater

I have a Mr. Heater Buddy type of heater for my home. It makes a loud snapping noise when igniting the pilot; obviously no good when out in the field, White Tail hunting. Does anyone know of a portable propane heater that can be lit silently? Thanks.

How big is your blind and what are the weather conditions?

My Blind is a large Primos; about 6' x 6' x 6'. I'm in CT, so the temps can get down into the 20's or teens in Nov. and Dec.

Could you not just use a lighter to ignite your heater?

I have a simple Coleman that requires a flame to ignite. I use a cheapo disposable cigarette lighter. My largest stand is a 4' x 5' that is about 6'6" inside. Plywood wall. Plywood floor. Tin roof. Three open "shooting" windows. About 7' off the ground. No insluation .... and it will run me out of there on "high", unless it is in the single digits. I have used it in my pop-up ground blind as well. Does great. Of course I am dressed insulated gear so temp does not need to be raised up to more than about 40F for me to be comfortable.

I tried using a lighter, but for unknown reasons, it doesn't lite with a flame.

I have a buddy heater and the big buddy heater. I've lit them both with a lighter.
As long as it is set to pilot and there is propane coming out of the pilot it has lit. It sometimes takes quite a while for fuel to start coming out of the pilot.
That onboard striker is really really loud though, isn't it. lol

I'm pretty sure I have used lighter in the past as well.

I have a Coleman Sportcat propane heater. You ignite it with a lighter or a match. It is packable and warm enough for blind hunting. I use my big buddy heater in the garage.

unless deer are right there when you are lighting it...I wouldn't worry too much about the loud click...
