Quieting my stand.

I want to make my stand quieter.

I have to remove it each night where I hunt and reinstall it every morning, so I want to minimize the noise it makes as I come and go.

I have a hang-on stand which is fine, but the 4 section ladder makes unacceptable racket when being carried through brush, even on my back. I' ve got the peices strapped together so they don' t clank against each other, but since the are hollow, they sound like I' m banging tuning forks against trees as they tap small twigs and branches.:(
The ladder sections consist of an aluminum square hollow main tube with steps coming off the sides.

I know I can put hockey tape on the whole thing to keep the branches from hitting the metal, but it' s plenty heavy already, and I don' t want to add more wieght if I can avoid it. :(

I also came up with the idea of sealing the ends with some " Great Stuff" of some other expanding foam sealant.

Anybody tried this, or have any other ideas ?????

RE: Quieting my stand.

Hi Bulzeye,

I would try the spray foam insulation, that would stop the hollow noise. Camo tape woudn' t add any major weight, and would pad the metal against making any racket. If the parts are strapped together then I guess you don' t need to worry about any creaking hinges.
Good Luck this season!
