I prefer a stand due to inproved view, eliminates trying to get clear views/shots through the lower shrebs. The ground blinds have their benefit if the weather is not as nice as it could be, or hunting a field.

Give both a try from a bubby then make a personal decision. Try each for an entire day so you can decide after being there for several hours.

Default climbing stand vs. ground blind

i'm talking about one of them small chair blinds. which is easier to hunt out of as far as spooking deer. i think blinds would be easier to set up but i am concerned that i will spook deer much easier than i would in a tree stand. which do you prefer? How do they compare in spooking deer.

Those chair blinds are narrow and limited to the amount of movement one can hide especially mounting and swinging a rifle.

Go to a sporting goods store that has one set up and try it for yourself. It might change your mind.
A hub or bop up blind may suit your far better.

And I use both - tree stand or ground blind. Depends on the area.

I assume you are talking bow hunting.
Tree stands are more effective. But ground blinds are fun to hunt from - you are sometimes having deer walk 15 ft from you at ground level. If the wind is right and you brush in good enough you can get a shot though. Getting busted is easy to do in a ground blind.

For gun hunting, give me a fortress with walls to block out the freezing WI wind or put me on the ground still hunting. Or hunker down behind a big tree. I don't think I would last much more than 30 min up in a high unprotected tree stand with the wind whipping at 20F or colder.
