Score is not everything.a trophy can be described as many things.

I've never shot a buck with a non-typical point. Or one with a G4. Either of those would make my season. Even if they're 100 inch bucks or smaller.

My proudest buck is a small spike. It's mounted on the wall. My son shot it when he was 7. Best day in the field for me ever. Better than my big archery buck and better than my PA bear.

Having a matching G3 would help.

Ive also heard deer begin to lose mass after the age of 6, so he may be half the deer he is in this photo. Also if you havent seen him in 4 years that seems to sign that he is either gone or made a new home.

We never saw him before that season, and we never saw him after. I'm guessing he showed up for the rut, hung out as long as food was good in the area, then moved on.

Our property is in the middle of mountainous big woods. There are a few several-thousand acre properties in the area and two state game lands of 54,000 acres and 20,000 acres. There is also a state park on the mountain that is about 20,000 acres. The area is swamp, clear cut and steep mountain sides. Deer can go for miles without crossing a road. I think they range pretty far up there and we get them on our property because we have a nice herd of resident doe.
