Is he mounted wrong?
My 2011 buck. I got him back about mid october. Had a hard time trying to figure out which way I wanted him to be turned. Last week a friend saw him and said I shoulda had the smaller drop in the back. He was looking to his left when I first saw him so thats the way I had him mounted. What do you guys think ?

Heck of a good buck. Congrats to you. I'd say he looks just fine like he is, which is the way you saw him.
|
Congrats nice drop tines.did you mount him in a way to impress other ppl or did you mount him in the way that brings you back to the day you took him?
|
I'd shoot him again right on the wall ! Freaky looking thing
|
He looks just fine...
Your friend needs to learn to keep his mouth shut... |
The pose looks fine, but I'd pick a new taxidermist in the future. It's not bad, but there are taxidermists out there that could have made that thing look like it was alive.
|
I agree with all other assessments on the pose. It is your choice.
My eyes are drawn to the mouth/bottom jaw. The deer looks like it has a smirk. |
I think the pose looks fine. Quailty could have been better, but that could have been the camera/lighting as well. Either way neat looking deer!
|
Mounts can take you back to the moments, yours and the deers. Your choice of pose is just that, yours!.
Awesome buck. Congrats! |
Hey, it's your deer and you mount it the way YOU want it. The pictures are fuzzy and don't do it justice, but he sure is a neat looking trophy! Congratulations on a unique buck!

Freak i tell ya ! Shoot again !
|
Not the greatest pictures, but first Congrats on a outstanding animal. Second you should shop around next time on your taxidermist. In taxidermy you get what you pay for.
|
Hey, that's a great looking buck, but the only question I have about the mount is - are his feet touching the floor on the other side of the wall?
|
Wow thats a beauty! Your friends probably a bit jealous lol.

Exactly what I said. I always try to pose them as close as I can get to the way I first saw them. To answer a few questions. Lighting-My wife picked out the fixtures for the room and I hate the light they put out. Not near enough or bright enough. Almost a tan color even. Taxidermist-He's not doing taxidermy anymore. I have a new guy for this years buck. Took the pics with my cell phone. Thanks guys.

That's a great buck right there! Congrats. :happy0001:

Yes he is mounted wrong, he wasn't shot by me, and is not on my wall. :D
Other than that he looks GREAT. The way he is turned shows off the drop tine with the most character. It wouldn't look as good the other way. JMHO Congratulations on a very nice buck. |
If you like how he looks then that is all that matters. He is a nice buck.

I thought the same thing rogerstv!!!
|
Haha
Do YOU like how he's mounted?
Does he bring back that moment? Nice Buck. |
Oh yea. I like how he is. I always try to mount them as close as possible to how I first see them so this way made sence to me. Brings back the moment every time I look at him. Still does even when I drive by the patch of woods where I shot him. Thanks Guys!
|
One hell of a deer, congrats! I think the mount is great! If its how you last picture him and brings you back to that very moment, than job well done. Your mount your way. :happy0001:

Simple question, Are the deers feet touching the floor on the other side of the wall?
