Cry like a little girl. I hate snakes

Valentine 01-02-2013 01:34 PM

Well now another reason

...I never built a permanent tree stand.

MZS 01-02-2013 01:54 PM

Appears he built this stand tailor made for snakes and other critters with that dead space in the roof. Lucky he did not also have a nest of hornets up there!

navymancdf 01-02-2013 01:55 PM

Yeah i would of let the snake keep the stand and moved on lol i hate snakes

BRUSE 01-02-2013 02:11 PM

awesome video at least it was a black snake

nchawkeye 01-02-2013 02:19 PM

I've killed plenty that get in our box stands...

My weapon of choice is my Ruger Mark-II...

superstrutter 01-02-2013 05:43 PM

Just two black rat snakes finding a cozy quiet place to make love. I'm not in the least bit afraid of snakes, but if one of those would have fallen on me in a stand while still dark, I may would have to check my pants. I sat on a copperhead a couple years ago while turkey hunting. That was an unpleasant surprise that fotunately had a happy ending.

Good for him for letting it live, I would have done it verbatim.

MD DEERHUNTER 01-03-2013 06:51 AM

I never had a snake in my tree stand, but earlier this year during early muzzleloader season I had a black snake curled around the bottom of the tree that I had my climber set up on. I just dumped some water out of my water bottle on top of him to get rid of him.

Snakes

Were helping the Hunter keep the rodent population in check.

Kudos for not killing them.

I may have not been as generous.

I wouldn't tolerate a snake near me either. I'll tell you what though, that dude's got some big balls!! :happy0001:

We had a big black snake come up our 16ft high permanent stand while getting it ready for the season. He was very similar to the one in the video. I was very surprised he came up that high.

browtine7 01-03-2013 05:03 PM

I would have pissed myself!!!!!!!!!!

bigge_al 01-03-2013 06:16 PM

More of a man than me snake would have had him a home. Plus he did not know what kind of snake until he cut the plastic.
I had a friend jump out of a boat and leave it on the lake because a snake feel into it while Carp hunting he hitchhiked back to the dock.
Same guy saw a snake skin in his basement and sold his house. Buy the way this guy had to weight over 270 and 6'4.
Oh I hate snakes also.

Took the wife with me in 08 to So. Texas on a hog hunt and was getting ready to walk into a box blind and heard a rattler inside the box just as we opened the door. 45 with birdshot took care of that. Wife did not come back out nor go on another hunt there with me again. We have black rat snakes at out deer camp which is an old corn crib. We open it up about a week before bow season and find up to 6 skins up on rafters that are 12-14 feet up in tha air. We have yet to see the snakes though. Has came up to some neat conversations after a day of hunting over barley pops by the woodburner.

All u have to do is go to store and get a bag of sulfur. My dad used to when he was doing something to his barn.

Love snakes, wouldn't mind them in my stand. Kind of annoying, though, as they get in the way. As long as they decide not to jump from a tree and land on my shoulder, I'm OK.

redgreen 01-07-2013 02:20 PM

I would have just tossed them out of there and got comfortable.

Mojotex 01-07-2013 02:42 PM

Wow !

Last spring I posted on the turky forum this true tale ... short version. I had been sitting for about an hour or so at the edge of a food plot calling every now and then. I reached for my slate pot to call again and my hand hit something cold and slick !!! A long what we call a "Black Racer" shot across my right leg as it hauled a$$ off into the grass. I nearly needed clean underwear to say the least.

Black rat snakes are really cool snakes. They get pretty big, and they are great climbers.

Several years ago, my wife called me and said she saw the end of snake tail by the side door of our house. She has the habit of leaving the door wide open while letting the dog out to do her business. She said it disappeared, and swore up and down it went in the house. When I got home, she was standing out in the yard and refused to go inside. I spent a good 45 minutes turning over furniture, and looking under beds. I did not find a snake. I finally assured her it was OK to come in.

The next evening, I heard a blood curdling scream, and I thought we had an intruder in the house. I rushed in to save my wife, and on the dining room floor was about a 4 foot long black rat snake.

To the amazement of my wife, I picked him up by the tail and carried him outside. He did not even try to bite. He did keep a worried eye on my wife though.

He seemed to understand he was going outside.

Valentine 01-11-2013 12:07 PM

I wonder if there has been a sale on used Condo tree stands.

flyinlowe 01-11-2013 06:33 PM

I would have set the stand on fire a walked back to the truck.
