Blessed with two beautiful bucks
4 Attachment(s)
It has been a while since my last post on here but college has been keeping me busy. Thot yall would like to check out the bucks that I was fortunate enough to harvest this fall. The first deer (1st and 2nd pictures) is a buck that I have been watching for three years. Over the years I have over fifty trail cam pictures of him and have had multiple sightings. In the last year his rack has not gotten any larger so I made it my goal to take him out as I believe he was at least 5.5 years old and quite possibly maxed out. I was able to hunt several times during the rut with several close encounters with multiple good bucks but couldn’t close the deal. After finishing another semester of college I made it home to do some hunting. My second night out was Dec. 16th and I hunted over some biologic brassicas and clover I planted this summer in the area where I had been seeing that deer. Two hours before dark he entered the field and presented me with a 36 yard shot with my Mathews DXT. I was able to make good and put it through this heart and he expired within 150 yards.
The second deer (3rd and 4th pics) is also one that I have a history with. I have pictures of the deer from two years ago when he was 2.5. I was able to find one of his sheds this past spring as well as capture him in multiple pictures this fall. The late gun season in Wisconsin opened back up on Christmas Eve and I hit a stand that overlooks some standing beans and corn. The presence of a foot of snow and some cold temperatures had the deer pouring into the standing crops. With half an hour of shooting light left he came out and started to head to the standing corn. A well placed 150 grain .270 WSM bullet dropped him in his tracks. I am truly blessed with such an opportunity to harvest two beautiful bucks this year and I couldn’t be happier! |
