Antlers, best way to cut off?
maybe a strange question but i always find it difficult to cut the skull and antlers off of the bucks i kill with the poor or missing hand saws at our camp. I was told to explore using a sawzaw as it woiuld make easy work of it. I have a ryobi sawzaw and purchased a set of the milwalkee wood blades with larger and jagged teeth. I didn't find it very easy to cut the skull, part of the problem being a sucky ryobi but i suspect the wood blade is the wrong choice.
does anyone else use a sawzaw for this and if so, any suggestions on the type of blade i should purchase? |
Use a mid size blade, not the wood style. Cut the fur first with a knife.

Hand hack saw
Use it also to shorten my aluminum arrows.

Skin the hide from around the skull so you are just cutting bone and use a medium blade with short strokes to get a cut going. One you get a little deeper into the bone it should go easier.
