My 2012 Ohio Buck

Took this one this year at a new farm. This is my second year hunting it. Killed a doe last year and didn't have a buck in range.

Anyway, I was hunting the other direction. We cleared some trees with a backhoe and pilled the logs up making a nice ground blind. I was sitting behind it and ended up having this 8 point come up behind me. I hadn't seen anything yet this morning but had seen 4 bucks earlier in the week. He came off the neighboring property and was sneaking into the thick stuff behind me. I had to make a quick decision as he would have disappeared quick. I actually shot him left handed. He was at 25 yards. Not a monster but not a bad buck big body. Just thought I'd share...What do you think he'll score. I've yet to put a tape on him. I don't care because he's mine already it just nice to know sometimes ....

My last buck 2007 (153")

Nice symmetry on those bucks!.
Funny how once in a while they sneak in from behind.
I don,t tape them either, like em for what they are.
Congrats!

Thanks....I like to know...but once I have pulled the trigger its pretty worthless to worry about it. I could have taken this guy with my bow...but I wasn't passing on him. BTW we think this is the same buck my daughter(16 and still hunting with me) spotted across the farm at 300 or so yards while bow hunting. She called it "her buck" Kinda wish she had shot him.

wow nice bucks man!

Jasonlester 12-05-2012 03:50 PM

Thanks guys... No clue on anyone leasing property. I know folks do it around but I've been lucky enough to have some acreage of my own to hunt. This is the first off the farm which is primarily field, which is far different from the area the 2007 buck was shot at. It's like learning to hunt all over... Ok not really but there is a learning curve for me... I'm used to bow hunting the thick stuff

That's a nice buck!!! I was sitting in my stand the other day aiming left handed!!
It's crazy aiming and useing your opposite eye!! Nice shot man!!

Robs71100 12-05-2012 05:19 PM

Congrats a very good looking buck!

Jasonlester 12-06-2012 04:00 AM

Thanks guys....

I'm actually left eye dominate but shoot right handed. In the Army I shot left handed (expert I might add). I can shoot a bow either way. (recurve`) so that's why I decided to try the left handed shot without worrying I'd blow the shot. Plus he was at 25 yards.
