HUNTING ON PUBLIC HUNTING GROUNDS IS TOUGH!! I hunt public hunting grounds here in Southern Maryland which is 2200 acres. I hunt down in a valley on a creek bottom off of a stream. This morning I set my alarm clock for 3:30am and I was in my stand by 6:30. About 9:00am I had a doe walkup behind me within 25-yards of my stand. I let her walk, I thought she was too small. It was still early so I thought I would have another opportunity to put a deer in the back of the truck. Unfortunately no, I didn't see any more deer movement for the rest of the day and I didn't hear any shots ring off in the park. But I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and I'll be back in the stand early in the morning hunting all day. But right now I'm beat! 10-hours straight in the stand kicks my butt! Hopefully, persistance will pay off.

I have always found spending alot of time scouting public hunting grounds (prior to the season if possible), paid off come season. You saw one, and did not get busted. Keep after them and enjoy your time afield
