What will he score? How old would you say this deer is?

shetzy911 11-25-2012 08:22 AM

My god that's a big deer! Dandy buck! You are really blessed to have an opportunity to hunt this animal. 9.5 yrs 142.25 inches.

Shwagy357 11-25-2012 08:52 AM

Wow shetzy thanks! I knew he was old but DANG!

deernmusky 11-25-2012 10:03 AM

I would also say 140, but that dear is not 9.5 years old....No way... Not trying to start a fight here even though I no it will turn into one, but where the heck did you pull that number from.

I think in my personal opinion 3.5 - 4.5 would be closer to the accurate age...

Buckyou 11-25-2012 10:23 AM

sorry champ 130's 2 1/2 maybe 3 1/2 NO DROOP IN BACK AND BELLY. GONNA BE A NICE DEER NEXT YEAR. Would I be happy to have him ride in my truck ? You Bet.........go get em ! NICE DEER ALL AROUND THOUGH

Surely you are just being a smarty. That deer will be lucky to break 130 and he is long ways from 9.5 years old. Great looking buck though

I was thinking more like 12.5 yrs and prolly 165". :s2:

VA5326 11-25-2012 12:55 PM

2.5 yo 125-130

OhioNovice 11-25-2012 03:14 PM

I saw a deer that they aged at 15 yrs, which the farmer happen to have found dead in his field. Oldest deer I have heard of and you could definitively tell it was that old; they get grey and shaggy like an old lab.

superstrutter 11-25-2012 03:51 PM

If you look at the scoring page of the gun contest ( page 3 ), I killed one very similar in size to this one. Mine is a little wider and maybe a little thicker. The G1's on mine hurt my score. My deer scored 126, so this buck may be a little less or a little more, but nowhere near 140 and probably under 130. Still a very nice deer.

NebBuckHunter 11-25-2012 03:57 PM

Right around 130. Maybe 3.5 yo.

fastetti 11-25-2012 04:48 PM

I'd say he is just touching 130" and at most 3.5 years old. 140" and 9.5 is way off. I know we all want deer to be bigger and older than they are but the nose on that thing gives it way. Even a 4.5 would have more of a roman nose. I shot a 140" 8 point this year and that deer needs to be a lot wider to wider to be closer to 140". He is a great buck though that anyone would be proud to shoot! Good luck with him!

gamsmith 11-26-2012 11:54 AM

3.5 years 130 maybe 135. Shoot him and let me know.

DeppedyDogg 11-26-2012 12:02 PM

Conservative estimate of 150 class green score, looks like 3.5 years.

crokit 11-27-2012 02:05 AM

128 3 1/2

What are you smoking? Please do not call anyone on these forums insulting names!

4.5 years old and maybe 130... MAYBE

deerdust 11-27-2012 08:09 AM

Ok, lets explain this. Age is probably 2.5- 3.5. As far as score, he has no mass, he is just at his ears on spread, his beams barely go mid- stride on his nose, but they do almost touch so you are gaining a little there, Brow tines are very short (maybe 3"), g3's are maybe as long as his ears (7"), he has 2 tines (g2's) that are a decent length (maybe 10"), This 8 pt would not even go 125 pope n young.

All that said, he is a nice little buck, and a huge trophy for many people. He would be even bigger next year, but might not live that long if you pass on him. The next guy may take him. If you go after him, all the best to you, and make it a good shot.

deernmusky 11-27-2012 05:50 PM

140 might be alittle high. but I think its more then the P&Y 125" Min....

kateraxl2381 11-27-2012 10:00 PM

In the 130 range, 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old.

skinnnner 11-28-2012 04:06 AM

Your all on drugs hes going to scope around 245 non typical and about 53.5 years old

skinnnner 11-28-2012 04:07 AM

Sorry ment score

pyclub1 11-28-2012 09:53 AM

3.5-4.5 yrs old. mid 130's tops.

deerdust 11-30-2012 05:13 AM

I score 40-50 deer a year, so to me this is a no brainer and easy for me to judge by just looking at the pics. I understand that many people don't score as many deer and from my experience, know that many people have trouble field judging deer. At most, people will score one or two deer per year, if they score them at all.

This is a dandy little buck, so please shoot him and score him for us!! lol ;)

Mojotex 11-30-2012 05:19 AM

early in .... and 312 pounds.

My guess about 130 +/- B&C and looks to be 3 1/2. Nice buck. If he can atay healthy and make it 2-3 more seasons, he sould be a whopper.

skinnnner 11-30-2012 05:51 AM

Let him go let him grow

deerdust 11-30-2012 06:35 AM

skinnnny, you're just an ole party pooper aren't ya. lol

skinnnner 11-30-2012 06:46 AM

Lol maybe but its true if you want large bucks you have to let smaller ones go

skinnnner 11-30-2012 06:50 AM

Unless of course this is a large buck for that erea.not every place is equil due to many things

SmokinSD.243 11-30-2012 08:49 AM

Im thinking around a 130 or so, but fairly young in age. Somewhere around 3 or 4 years old. It doesn't have any G2s yet so that shows its under the age of 6 for sure. The rack is really nice tho, really tall! great pics!

halfbakedi420 11-30-2012 12:08 PM

120-130 and about 3 years er so, need a jawbone to kinda know fer sure.
DD...i think spread for age is n/a..there is a deer in leon county texas a guy has been watching on his trail cams going over 7 years. the bases are like coke cans and the spread wont go past ears in alert position(13" +/-). its nice and tall and a trophy buck now but ya cant take him legally as the county has antler restrictions.

skinnnner 11-30-2012 09:49 PM

Where in the world is a antler restriction is based on spread?spread is a genetic thing not something that comes with age.

sup skinnner...been a minute....yeah alot of the counties here are on antler restrictions. except maybe the golden triangle. they are trying to grow "trophy racks" here, ya cant eat a rack, but that seems important to the dnr here.

skinnnner 12-01-2012 09:18 AM

Hey baked good to see you,if you look in the record books alot of trophy racks dont have large spreads, spread is just one mesurement.number of tines and tine lengh and mass contribute much more to a trophy rack.i can understand the dnr wanting to grow large racked deer since sport hunting brings in alot of money and everyones after large racks these days.
