a ton of corn...a camera near...the stand...saw my 4 wheeler...a hunter...

If the deer start smelling all that, a lot of hunters are in real trouble.

I belive they use that snort/weeze is to say, hey I'm a deer who are you. So you are right by blowing back to put them at ease.

I shot my first deer by blowing back at it. I was walking to my stand and was just about there when a deer to my right started to blow. I figured what the heck. It's already busted me so I gave it a try. About a half hour after daylight, I had a spike horn come in and made the mistake of turning broadside. I think by blowing back at the deer made it think that it was just another deer coming in and it calmed down. I've also had one blow at me and used a grunt tube and that one came back to be back straps on my table. The deer probably were spooked but it's not impossible to get them to stick around for dinner.

Maybe they just didn't know where you were so they just backed on out.
Now that looks like it hurt. What happened?

yeah the Doe's busted your scent or smelled the 4wheeler 2 times! I've had them sit around for a few minutes blowing and going on...stomping etc..I've also had them take off and hear them blowing through the woods...both are funny but frustrating because you know YOU messed up

Let me tell you about something nearly the same that happened to me. I climbed into a tree about 50 yards out in a swamp around
1/2 hour before shooting time, a little latter than I usually like
to arrive. It's a very noisy crunchy morning and not 5 minutes
latter I hear what sounds like a couple deer walking/running at
times about 200 yards away. Then I start hearing buck
grunts following along behind the other couple deer along with
walking sounds. the first two deer kept coming in my direction
and hit the scent trail I made coming to my stand about
20 yards from me. Still 10 minutes to daylight. One of the
deer starting snorting and stamping. the other two just
froze ( no walking sounds ) . This went on for ay least 5
minutes. Then the deer that was stamping and the other one with it slowly walked away in the direction they were
originally heading. The buck continued to stand still about
100 yards away from me and back in the trees. I waited
10 minutes until it was full light and did three doe bleats.
The buck started grunting and walking in a semi -circle
around me to get my scent. He passed thru a small
opening at about 50 yards out. He isn't the biggest buck
I've shot but a decent 8 point and it was a fun hunt.
