Last for dinner I made chili. His chest was puffed out and he had a big smile on his face. He said "I put this meat on the table". I thought about that a lot. How many kids can say that these days? I never could. Most kids can't say they put the meat on the table till they are in their late 20's or early 30's and take their parents out to dinner or have them over for a meal. This 13 year old has put meat in the freezer and knows that he can go out and get food and drag it home. That really resonated with me and was something I never thought about as far as giving a child a skill and a sense of accomplishment. I am enormously proud of him, not for the kill but for the attitude about the hunt and the result of the hung.
