Which Summit?

I am tired of lugging heavy stands through the woods and after hearing soo many good things about the summit climbers, I have decided to get one. The problem is all of them sound nice! I have been considering the viper sd and the viper elite. Has anyone used the elite and can you use a different seat with it?

The fact that the elite is 4 pounds lighter is a big plus, but only if you have long hike to your hunting spot. With that said, it doesn't come with the comfortable foam seat with seat back that the standard Viper SD comes with. I can't say how comfortable the "lightweight mesh seat" is, but my guess is not very (i.e. you might as well go with a Wolf if you don't care about comfort and are more concerned with packability and weight).

I have the Viper SD and like it very much. However, with full cold weather gear on, the frame is a bit tight. If I could go back, I'd get a Goliath or Titan, just for the extra space. I'm 6'1", 220 lbs, so if you're not as big, it may not be an issue. I just wish it was possible to have a stand like the Open Shot with the seat of the Viper!

I have the older aluminum viper an it is the best stand I have ever owned.

How much time have you spent in it? Isn't it new this season? i.e. have you actually spent four or more hours sitting in it hunting?

I have a Viper and like it a lot.

I have a viper and it does the job for me.

Well I settled on a viper sd and couldn't be happier. The online pictures give the seat cushion no justice as it is very thick. Also the stand feels lighter than I expected. Now I just got to hope it will climb the small pines on my lease in n. Florida. Anyone ever try climbing the smaller trees with them? I know it will sway more but it's the only option I have.

I have the Razor SD and so far i love it

Woodsman, I've climbed & harvested several deer from trees no thicker than 8" with my viper. Though it's not recommended in moderate winds, it sure is fun.

Woodsman88 09-03-2012 04:21 PM

That's what I was hopin to hear. I know they will sway much worse but I annoy worried because the area is incredibly thick so I doubt the wind will have as much of an effect as other places.

I had the classic viper (27lbs) and upgraded to the summit 180. I love it. I face the tree while rifle hunting and away from the tree while archery hunting

I also have the 180 max. it is very comfortable. The viper is a little smaller and easier for me to climb in. I'm also kinda short at 5'9 so I'm at a disadvantage from the get go. At times I wish I would have bought the viper instead
