I have but not anymore. The 30-30 used to be VERY popular but not as much now as it used to be. I have an iron sights 30-30 (lever action) that my step-father got me. I use it here and there just to remember him.

Of the 6 guys I hunt with, 2 of them still use a 30/30. I had one up until about 3 years ago when I sold a couple rifles to get a new .30-06.

He's pretty stupid if he does and puts it out on this website! My guess is that he's able to go up into PA with them.

I use one on my stands deeper in the woods on the creek. So much easier to carry and maneuver in smaller stands

Heck yeah! In more wooded areas where shots are typically 50-100 yds, a 30-30 is the perfect gun. Love mine, and love the "old west" look of it. For open country, you will probably want something a bit heftier for the 150+ yd shots though.

I mostly just bow hunt in OH, I gun hunt PA and WV. But you can also use all of these in OH with nuisance permits.

Default Using a 30-30

My son and I use one depending on where and how we're hunting. He mainly uses the 30-30 and I use my 30-06 but if he's going to be near a field or more open area we switch.

Default Great round.

I have several sets I hunt on my property. If I am in a stand back in the hardwoods I always use my 30-30. It is a great 100 yard and in round. Yes, you can definitely effectively reach farther but, I have other options for that. The 30-30 gives great penetration and expands effectively. Overall, the 30-30 is a classic whitetail round and will always be considered an adequate choice for big game.

Beamer, that is a great piece by Chuck Hawks.

Mine is a Westernfield 740 A-EMN, better known as a Marlin 336
