No offense but I beg to differ on it being the best Remington pump of all time, my vote goes to the old Wingmaster fixed choke

I've had a 12 ga. 870 Wingmaster 3" Mag. 30" full choke barrel & slug barrel since 1980. 1st had a smooth bore slug barrel on it, then a Hastings Rifled barrel, lastly I sent it to PA. to Tar-Hunt to permanently affix a Shaw Rifled barrel, and Black synthetic Monte Carlo stock. Turning it into a Tar-Hunt 870 DSG. (designated slug gun). I also have a 12 ga. 870 Express Super Magnum 3-1/2" Turkey Special, Black synthetic stock. My 2 favorite guns by far!!!

the 870 is a great shotgun, not my first choice for deer (id rather have a rifle) but add a nice rifled slug barrel and find some sabot slugs it likes and you got a good deerslayer prob out to 150/200 yards.
