should i buy a 30-30 or stick with the .44 magnum rifle

would you consider the 30-30 a high powered rifle?

Why choose one over the other? I would want both. I found a .45LC at Cabela's two weeks ago, and while I didn't buy it I certainly would have, had I the money to do so. You can never have too many guns.

i would consider the 44 magnum a big handgun round, but not a rifle..the 30-30 imo is actually to big for a handgun, but its a bigger and better concept, ya know how that went, "hey watch this"...lol..
the 44 has a way bigger projectile than a 30-30..over 100 grains in some cases...so comparing them is not an easy task, each will kill efficiently enough.

I heard it explained as a bag of golf clubs. You don't use the "driver" when you need a "wedge". You don't use a "iron" to putt.

If you can't hit anything with the gun, that should be argument enough.

If you are flinching so bad with the .44 that you miss deer then you'll miss them quicker with a 30-30...

Inside of 100 yards the deer will never know the difference...

Does the .44 have a scope on it??? If so, check the mounting screws and see if that helps...Also, try different brands of ammo as some usually shoot better than others...

After checking mounting screws on the scope, take it off and use the iron sights if the scope appears tight...

My family has several ruger .44's. They are touchy to being clean so they don't jam, and they are VERY touchy with handloads. Factory loads I've had way more luck with and at 100 yards, they are plenty accurate to kill deer. Not tack drivers, but 2-3 inch groups.

Past 100 yards, find a different gun.
