Looks like a possom to me.

arrow2512 11-28-2011 03:22 PM

Thats my guess to .

IOWABUCKHUNTR 11-28-2011 03:25 PM

Based solely on tail.. Possum. But the legs, eyes, ears, and snout make it look more like a small fox, probably with really bad mange or other diseases.

jrbsr 11-28-2011 03:34 PM

A baby chupacabra, lol

Or just a mangey fox.

I like the chupacabra better. :barmy:

it is either a fox with a burnt tail.
or a possum with a big head.
take your pick. I say big headed possum.

A fox with mange. I shot a couple of them a few years back in elbridge NY.

Someone one beat me to chupacabra....dang.

Yeah, looks like a sick fox.

On a side note, the local news gets a pic like this down here in south Texas at least once a year and makes a huge news story about it being the chupacabra. Its hilarious.

I would go with a fox also. If anyone gets a picture of man-bear-pig on their trail cam be sure to post it lol

Sheridan 11-28-2011 06:43 PM

Yep, mange.......fox

Thanks for all your comments. My friend and I have arrived to the conclusion that it is a mangy fox. Take care and happy hunting.

I say it is a Possum/Coyote cross.

looks like an opossum to me

I agree . Fox with mange.

Fox with pretty bad mange. Seen one crossing the road near the West Monroe/ Constantia line in NY during daylight hours. I got a real good look at it, and one thing is for sure, they are ugly critters when they get the mange.

Champlain Islander 12-14-2011 03:05 AM

Fox would be my guess. Too tall for a possum

GTOHunter 12-15-2011 05:21 PM

As stated....from just looking at the head with the pointed ears its a Fox that lost is fur off of its tail or it had the mange? :) ;)

Topgun 3006 12-15-2011 07:04 PM

Yep, a possum has a lot more of a snout and shorter legs. It's definitely a mangy fox.

Cereal guys!!!! It was man-bear-pig!

I am surprised that no one looked at the ears first. A possum has mouse like ears that are hairless. This animal has furred black tipped triangular ears. When in doubt look at the ears.

salukipv1 12-15-2011 09:32 PM

You mean opossum?
