on there website, winchesters 94 is ridiculously priced at over $1000. you could find one in a gun store for probably $300-$500 used. Marlin 336's run cheaper brand new and used. you could probably get a 336 for around $350 pretty easily. IMO buy a quality gun right now, use the irons. Using irons made me a better shot and im sure they will to you to. if you practice you should be able to pretty easily get a deer at 100 yards using irons. then just save up and buy a scope later on. Where i hunt in PA, anything over 100 is a long shot and hard to come by unless your hunting a field.

and if your still into a .243, marlin makes a great bolt rifle for people on a budget. i have a marlin xl7 in .270. it can hold one inch groups out to 100 yards and ive hit pop cans at 300. they come in 243 in the Marlin x7y it has a shorter stock for smaller built people and youths, i still dont understand why they dont make a normal side xs7 in .243. but here is a link to a x7y in .243. you can get these for around $350 with a scope.

I would look into the new Savage Axis (use to be Edge) bolt-action Rifle in the Combo Package,You can get a regular synthetic stock Rifle with the Bushnell 3X9X40mm scope for around $319.00 or the great looking Camo stock Rifle with scope for around $359.00.They have the .223,.243,7mm-08 and a few others Calibers too.The Savage Axis is a nice Rifle with the clip underneath the gun for quick easy removal.

I bought my Daughter a Rossi single shot Rifle and it is easy to carry and light but has some pretty good recoil since its such a light and short Rifle. If You watch the Cabela's and Bass Pro hop adds they run some pretty good sales with Christmas coming up.

I had the same problem when i was younger, i was scared of recoil and would flinch bad. I bought myself a .270 and shot it repeatedly to get over my flinching. It doesnt kick bad at all. Its all about practicing
