spooked Deer
 

tonight i missed a good buck on the edge of a green field.. but killed a nice willow sapling.. how long should i hold off going back to this stand? this sit and wait hunting is new to me .. i am used to having to drive deer up.. any help would be appreciated..

Hard to say. In my experience, it all depends on the individual deer and I'm no deer psychologist so....

I've seen them come right back, I've never seen them again after just getting my scent on an odd gust of wind.

I missed a monster once early in the season, held out for him the next month and only jumped him once mid day on the way out to the stand. Ended up taking a nice 8pt in the meantime and giving up.

Let my brother hunt there once and, well, now, my brother has a bog ol 13 pt on the wall in his office. Damn.

Point is, its not going to hurt to hunt there. His daddy or brother or 2nd cousin may show up one hunt, he may come back after a few days. Never know.
