Muzzleloader question.
I shoot .50 cal and was wondering if 50 grains of powder behind a powerbelt 222gr aero tip would be enough to kill a deer at 50 yards or less? My wife doesn't like my shotgun because of the recoil and my muzzleloader is the only real alternative for her at this point.
Thanks, Chas |
Not sure about 50 grains but I shoot 100 grains and the recoil isn't bad at all just depends on the weight of the gun. I have a traditions pursuit pro. good luck

I would go 100 grain

Possible, but honestly probably not a great combination. My suggestion would be to shoot 80gr or more, and see how the grouping is. I personally would not shoot 50gr. Post this question in the muzzleloading forum if you haven't. The guru's over there will have all the answers you need.

I you are using pellets, you can buy Triple 7 in 30 grain size, which allows you to put together other combinations, i.e., 30 and 50 to make 80, or three 30s for a 90.

Opps forgot about the muzzleloader forum.
