To start things off, I already have killed one buck this year so I have one buck tag for the rest of the season. Went hunting this morning and around 7 had a doe come through with a buck behind her. He stopped out around 30 to 35 yards and pretty much waited for me to shoot him, however, I did not. When he began to walk off I got a longer look at him. I would have guessed him to be around 150 inches as a clean 10. My question to you is, did I make the right call? Not shooting because I thought he needed a year and come to find out he was a shooter IMO, but couldn't make the call until he was walkin away. In my defense, it all happened in about 20 seconds...

Only you can make that call. But I know if it was me, and he came even remotely close to 150, he would be getting a ride in my truck on the way home.

He would have been in the truck if it were me. But only you can ultimately decide whether or not it was a shooter.

He will be bigger the next time you see him, and then you will be happy you waited.

If you had to question whether to shoot or not? and you didnt?

Then you made the right decision.

NOW what happens next is the ? Will you pass him again or let him walk?

I would ask these questions:
How big is your parcel?
What are the chances that JOE SMOE next door may shoot him?
Have you seen bigger deer on the property?
Have you killed a bigger deer than this one? My quess is yes you have.

Answer these questions before you get back on stand. Cause you need to be ready to act. A buck like this aint gonna give you too many more chances.

It's your own decision, I wouldn't have passed him up though personally. Hopefully you get him when he's a 170"!!
