I try to pick up as much as possible this time of year when its cold out and the big deer are rutting and chasing across roads, with the price of meat being as high as it is, its well worth it and to me the taste is way better then cattle.

I haven't came up on a deer that wasn't salvageable yet, I have seen some in bad shape but most times that's deer hit by semi's in these cases I wont pick the deer up but when i hear a car vs deer come over the scanner I am on it.I am guessing that 80% of this bucks meat will be edible wont know until I skin him out 2moro but he has no broken legs which is a good sign.

Oh man, I have seen some completely obliterated carcasses on the road. I mean ground and smashed all over the place to the point where you can barely tell what it was. I see several per week on my way to/from work.
