Default Best weekend ever!!

ok first thing i am 17 and just started hunting. Ok friday after i was done school i headed out to my stand i got in around 3 pm and nothing really happened until about 5:30 when i looked up and seen some does walking up so i stood up and grabed my bow. After what felt like 30 min they finally came in to my shooting lane as i was about to draw both there heads came up and looked right back where they came from i looked over and seen two bucks sparing (first time ever seeing that before) so they started coming in i let one got by and when i began to draw on the second the doe behind me blew. my heart sank. they all ran off but i grabed my grunt call and have a few grunts and the small one came back in but he was quarting to me so i didnt shoot. so i let him walk. Sunday i was back in the stand i did alittle rattleing and before i could even sit back down one comes running in but he crosses about 60 yards away from me so again let him go. that was my first time ever rattleing in a buck. hopfully this weekend i will get another chance.

Sounds like a good hunt. Good choice not to make a quartering-to shot. Last year on the first day I bow hunted I passed on the biggest buck I have ever seen, at less than 15 yards, because he was quartering to me sharply. It simply isn't worth the risk of injuring the animal.

It makes for a fun day when you have that kind of action minus the blowing Doe. I had a fun day Saturday myself.

Whitetail94, glad to hear your having allot of action! Mark those days on your calendar because it sounds like the rut is in full swing there! I'm sure next year and many years after that the rut will be close to those same days. Good hunting, Ron
