Default Tracking Dog Advice

I am about to get my first dog with the purpose of tracking wounded deer. Do you guys have any suggestions on breeds? I have been told labs, german shepherds, and hounds (like plott hounds). I do want it to be a good family dog, and I want a medium to large dog.

you can teach almost any dog to track blood...so find one with a good persona and show them the way...i have a husky/st. bernard, she gets the job done.
