Question about racks?
Co-worker of mine asked me this and I really didnt know. How abnormal does a rack have to be to be considered non-typical.

RE: Question about racks?
A typical rack is basically a main-frame with the same amount of upright points on each beam-symmetry is a key point.A NT would have drops, stickers and any other abnormalities.

RE: Question about racks?
does only one sticker make it a non typical.

RE: Question about racks?
RET although I am not an expert on this, I do not beleive one sticker would make it a non-typical, I have seen racks with quite a few stickers that were scored typical and non-typical, the stickers are deductions when it comes to scoring them typical though.

RE: Question about racks?
I believe the a rack is considered typical when it scores higher as a typical in the typical calss as it would a non-typ in the non-typ class.
personally I consider any normal main frame rack with normally located G tines a typical - regardless of how many kickers or " junk" it has off of it. Non-typical racks to me are the ones when you cant locate G tines and the thing is just a mess:) |
RE: Question about racks?
Nontypical is classed as any point not orginating from the main beam in an upright/regular fashion. So this means forked points, droptines, kickers, stickers, etc are classified as abnormal or nontypical growth. So yes a sticker can be classified non-typical however it would be more likely classified a typical with the sticker coming in as a deduction off the net score but can be scored both(as mentioned most will opt for the typical score vs nontypical with a few kickers as they don' t add up to much towards a higher min. for NT to make book) The number of tines per side do not indicate a nontypical rack (symetry has nothing to do with the classification), just a lot to due with the final score. ie: a 4x5 or 5x6 will be scored as a typical!!!! Basically think of it as a 4x4 or 5x5 (as long as the tines(g' s) orginate on the main beam and go some what upward) the missing G' s spot or tine will result in a deduction of the extra tine length off the net score!
3 antlered deer are not scorable, consider freaks of nature and therefore have no classifaction in official scoring books. Check out the official websites for more info and min. scores. www.boone-crockett.org (B&C) www.pope-young.org (P&Y) |
RE: Question about racks?
Per the B & C rules, a rack needs 15" of abnormal antler to be considered non-typical.
