Steep country. Looks like a large ravine with many side valleys ending up on a plateau. When the contours point uphill, that's the bottom of a ravine or gully. When they point downhill, that's a point or ridge between valleys.

ok....each contour represents 20 feet in elevation. From the road, you see the "boudes ferry"....to the left is a steep ravine and another steep hill which descends into Moon Hollow Run. For the hill in the center of the map...the one with the large flat area on top (lotta black there, not many lines), the land rises approximately 400 feet to the summit of the hill (from elevation 500 feet to approximately 900 feet). There's a large relatively flat area surrounding the top of the hill (at the contour which is labelled 874 feet) which looks to have some sort of fire road or break running the length of it, around the ravine and back towards the road along the summit of the adjoining hill. You've not provided a key, so I don't know the scale of the map...how many miles to the inch ? If you have that, or a scale of the map, you can calc the distance between any 2 points.
