Ground Blind Or Treestand?
#2
well for rifle i love to still hunt. i feel like i have more of a chance of bagging one 1st because i have a rifle and my range is extended a lot. 2nd because i'm not stuck in one place and i can move for changing conditions etc.
but for my bow i really like to hunt treestands, sometimes still hunt too.

For bow season, I like to use a ladder stand. I like being able to see more of the woods with the ladder stand. Besides that it is usually warmer for archery season then it is for our gun and ML season. Thats when I break out the ground blind.

It all depends on the spot and situation for me.
I usually bow hunt out of a lock-on treestand in my usual spots pre-set before season, but will use a climbing stand sometimes in new spots. I have started using a ground blind in the past few years for spots I can not climb or set a ladder stand over. I love having deer come right by the ground blind (gets my heart pumping more).
With a rifle I use them all: box stands, treestands, climber, and ground blind. I would say I love just taking my seat cushion and sitting by a big tree more often than not.
It all depends on the situation.

I have always hunted from ground blinds. We have three permanent blinds here on the home place and four on the bottom land I lease for deer and turkey. Us old farts have a problem with treestands, it is just too damned hard to drag our old bones up on one.

I prefer to use a tree stand. I like being above my prey. It makes ambushing them easier, and in the once big timber country (now paper mill) I hunt in you have a better view if you get 15' or more off the forest floor.
