I saw a photo once of a deer that had jumped through a fork in a tree but didn't make it and was trapped there. It died. I think I remember a post on this board where a hunter found a similar situation. I have seen deer caught up in a fence and dead twice.

Suppose that is what happened in this case and someone later came along and shot some holes in the deer. Maybe it was not a poaching event at all.

poacher suck, plain and simple. I would definitely report it to the game warden if you have any idea of who it was.

Duffy I saw a video on TV a few days ago off a buck that had got hung up in the fork of some good sized trees, they managed to get him out, but he died of internal injuries. He had jumped off an embankment that was about 20-30 feet high.

Last weekend a friend of mine found 6 deer thrown out in a beaver pond close to our hunting area. The 2 bucks had their antlers cut off and that was all. A couple of does had their backstraps cut out and one had the hams cut out and that was all. Unfortunately it is a fairly common thing and it is very hard to catch someone.

I agree with Big Riggs, contact your DNR/Game & Fish inform them...you never know, may somehow help catch the scum that would do such a thing...

The waste is unexcuseable. Even scavengers like foxes and coyotes can't get to it when they do that. Do tell the DNR police about it.

That bites. Were i live there is always poachers being arrested in the state parks. For instance about 2 miles from my house a guy killed a huge deer, the rack was huge, and he was arrested. That makes me mad because that same deer could have walked by my stand and it would have been awesome to kill a deer that big, but whoever the guy was just wasted a good huge deer.

I HATE POACHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
