In PA it will be between the first and 3rd week in September. Earliest I've seen it off was August 30th and latest was September 20th. Most are shedding around September 8-10th.

This is based on 4 years of trail cam pictures.

So is it correct to say that you shouldn't expect to find fresh scrapes this time of year?

I've never really looked this time of year before, but I am going out to do some scouting tomorrow.

That would be correct.

I start seeing rubs and scrapes around mid-October.

The attached picture is from 09-Sep-2010. Velvet just starting to peel. Date is wrong on the cam. This is my front lawn in the suburbs of SE Penna. Our camp up north is probably 2 weeks different for everything from leaves to ice to snow to animal habits.

Here is one I got on film in 2009, right in the middle of shedding.
