I have used the steel version for years. When Ol' Man changed the design a few years back of the front gun-rest/foot rest so that they could address concerns about pinching wide bodies like mine with the "bowed" frame, I did not like the change. Even at 6' 1" , 275#, I did not find the bowed sides design necessary. I found that the clip connection was so loose that it introduced a source of "metal to metal" sound. I bolted mine together. The Al design might reduce the weight a tad, but I suspect the price will eclipse the steel design and the same old rattling frame problem does not appear to be cured.

I have not seen this one yet but will definitely check it out. I love my Ole Man stands and have used them (among others) for years. I added the spreader arms to mine to make them more roomy, but it looks like this one already comes with a spreader arm design. Nice!
Do you know if this stand uses the blades or teeth? I have two older Ole Mans, one of each style. The blades definitely bite into the bark better than the teeth-style, and sit more securely in my experience. I'm hoping they have gone back to the blades.

Default Teeth

The new OL'MAN design still incorporates the teeth but they have reduced the amount of teeth and spread them further apart wich allows the stand to bite harder into the tree.
