I went out Shed hunting for the First time ever tonight with my friends and we found a spike and a matching set 10 pointer!!
I can't get the pictures uploaded now but i will tomorrow!!

Please post any of your findings this season!

Well just got back from hunting this morning only was out for about a hour. Found lots and lots of deer sign so hopefully there will be some more sheds around. Did get lucky enough to find two more last night though!!

WHITETAIL GENERAL 4 LIFE!

Well, most of the snow has melted and it's about time. Went out shed hunting for the 3rd time this year. Saw some great sights...beaver dam, lodge, nice big rubs, some hawks, and some great scenery. Found a place that looked promising. Tons of briers with deer beds every where. Kept finding bones, and a few doe skulls. No Sheds. And then, there it was....a dead 8pt skull. For some reason I have a hard time finding sheds, but do a good job finding buck skulls every year. Go figure! It's Kind of ravished, but it's a keeper for the pile.

I hate finding complete buck skulls. It seems I have the same luck. I'd much rather find sheds.

yes i also found a skull of a buck but the antlers were broke off and I couldn't find them in the pile. kind of disappointing...

Was also part of the group that found the sheds it was pretty intence and cant wait for the upcoming season hopefully can get a monster whitetail with my bow!!!

is it too late to shed hunt now? I'm just startin out in deer hunting so im completly green when it comes to this. I've searched this forums but didnt see when the best time to look for them. I'm from northern Il if that helps any??

Dad found these 2 sheds 8 feet apart from each other. We got him on video a few months ago. I went out and looked and couldnt find anything... it's kinda like lookin for a needle in a hay stack.

here is what i have found so far this year... 28 sheds and 13 dead with racks and 10 with out racks....sorry no pics of dead racks as we are not allowed to pick them up in ohio with out first obtaining a permit

no it is not to late to shed hunt. just dont get to discouraged if you dont find any. keep trying

hey guys nice pics i will post some more pictures of all my sheds that I found this year when I get a chance.

There are some nice sheds here.. I have been out all of feb and march haven't found any.. it's like somebody is walking around and picking them all up.. might be the squirrels

Those are some great finds but what I really like is your child being involved the smile on her face tells the whole story.Congrats to both of you..

Awesome! Nothing like seeing antlers to make one wish it was the fall already. Good work on getting out there and finding where the deer are.

Nice! i havent ever found sheds.i even whent out a few times and covered a LOT of land.

I hadn't had a chance to go shed hunting much this year. But I did find this turkey hunting. It is a MASSIVE rack. It's too bad that the 'yotes and critters got ahold of it before I did. I cannot imagine how big this rack would have been intact. I have cleaned it up since these pictures were taken. I will post the cleaned up version tomorrow. It measured 19" wide (what was left) and had 4"+ brow tines.

I walked miles & miles & miles... without exaggeration, I walked at least 10 miles on 15 different days! It was my best year yet! Here are some pics of the 26 I've found... an average of about 1 every 4+ miles of walking!

Here are the highlights of our 2011 shedding season.

We picked up this matched set shortly after the snow melted. They have 6 3/4 inch bases and each score in the mid 80's. We have 3 antlers off this deer now.



My wife found this one side (we couldnt find the other) off a buck that I missed with my bow last fall, it is around 77".

Shed hunting is a great way to spend more time in the woods after season. Unfortunately the majority of the area me and my team hunt is private land. There is a lot of posted land making it difficult to stay on a bucks tracks when looking for sheds. There are also a lot of other hunters and non hunters out looking for a nice set of horns, so remember the more time you spend in the woods the better of you are.

i wish i had this one "sweetie buck". i posted this in another forum.

This buck was found last year not very far from where i hunt. Richards brother showed me some of the pics they had taken right after they found it. What a huge buck!!! They were afraid that the state was going to keep it. here is a link to the article in field and stream.

I scouted, scouted, and scouted for that buck all summer and finally just saw him today for the first time.

These are the sheds I found while bowhunting this fall. The top right I found on private land on 10/29/2011. The bottom right I found on public land on 10/23/2011. The two big ones I found 70 yards apart on public land today 11/8/2011. The two big ones I believe are from the same deer but one was shed a year before the other.

I found this shed on 11/27/2011 while deer hunting some public land.

When do bucks start losing there antlers?When can you start looking for them??I'd like to give this a try,see what i find.Thanks

I think it varies by region but I live close enough to NC that it's pretty much the same. Here in TN I look from February till it gets too hot. As far as when they drop their antlers goes.. Usually from Mid January to April. It varies between deer.

I found these in Nov. 2011. I wish I would have found them before the rodents did.

Found these on Friday. My first matching set of sheds and they are nice! The other one my buddy found a matching set of last year and he's starting to decline.
