I have no idea where to post this, but, I figured here was as good as any place.
We were taking survival for our hunters' safety class. did you know that Pringles (the potato chip) makes great kindling. Just don't eat them first.
Here's hoping no one gets lost and needs to try it.

heh, dryer lint is great for starting fires. I bought one of those magnesium fire starters, total crap by the way, the magnesium burns way to fast, but a single spark from the striker sets dryer lint going. Showed my girlfriend and told her "see, this is why you clean the lint trap after every load." lol

Would think carton tube pringles come in make a better kindling.
Other firestarters to consider is toilet paper,
When rolll runs low I usually take it out and carry that with me.
I also use lint from the drier, as its light and takes like almost no space.
If I plan on staying out more than 1-2 nights I also sometimes pack a couple sterno candles,
And of course paper /kindling don't help unless you have matches/lighter/mag stick etc..
