The Occupation of Hunting

..."At present, however, I am interested in underscoring a feature of hunting that runs contrary to what is usually understood by diversion. This word, diversion, usually indicates only comfortable situations, to the extent that , used carelessly, it connotes ways of life completely free of hardship, free of risk, not requiring great physical effort nor a great deal of concentration. But the occupation of hunting, as carried on by a good hunter, involves precisely all of those things."
Jose Ortega y Gasset

Holiday Hoopie Whatie?

I consider myself a decent Hunter...and Hunting is not always free of all those items You mentioned or quoted?I have experienced hardship while hunting, risking my life each time I climb a tree, pack a Bow or Gun or risk being out in the woods...lots of phsyical effort involved in walking, climbing carrying gear or dragging a Deer and if I don't concentrate on watching for Wildlife or what I'm doing I very well won't be a succesful Hunter? Are You stirring the Pot Valentine?
