I also hunt Alabama, my 2 sons and myself have 7 this year. If we killed every deer that size that we saw we would have 40 by now. Comes a time when hunting is about more than pulling the trigger......guess you ain't there yet.

When I first read the post I said "10 deer!!! what do ya do with them"???????? I enjoy venison as much as the next guy, BUT TEN!!!!!!!!!!!
but then I looked at the picture, looks like a big squirrel, Man!! even 7,, for a family to consume 7/10 deer a year is unreal, these must be some tiny critters, Don't get me wrong!!! "Shoot-um up" I could care less, but 10 deer??????????, Also a 30/06 on an animal of that size seems like a little "OverKill" maybe a .22 Doc

No, not self righteous. I don't see the thrill in killing an obviously small deer after you have already killed 9 just so you can brag about getting to 10. As I said before, hunting is not all about pulling the trigger.

rlpsystems 01-26-2011 01:42 AM

I think I see a pile of afterbirth in the picture

30-06 with a 3x9x40 scope, I've got a feeling you had it set to the highest power, How many shots to put her down? How far did she run?

(Just Kidding) if it is legal to take them (10) and you want to go for it- go for it, it must be the DNR down there wants to thin the herd or something, I am sure they have a reason, Congratulations, Talk to a taxadermist, maybe you can get a "herd" mount!!! (kidding again) Doc

mrl0004 01-26-2011 06:05 AM

I bet it spit it's passifier 50 yds when you shot it

13pointjomc 01-26-2011 08:28 AM

If i would have known i was gonna get bashed for putting a pic of a nice sized #130 lb. doe i never would have posted it. I will never post a pic of a deer on here again, unless its a decent buck.

mrl0004 01-26-2011 09:50 AM

just messin with you, I shot one smaller earlier this year. Granted it was 205 yds away and I had nothing to judge it on

ipscshooter 01-26-2011 10:04 AM

Where I hunt, the does never get much bigger than 105 lbs. Shot one last year that tipped the scales at 117 and the other guys said it was one of the biggest they'd seen. 130 lbs is about the size of a 3 year old buck...

Bocajnala 01-26-2011 10:13 AM

13, don't let them bother ya. This time of the year they have nothing to do, so everyone complains. If it's legal, and you (or someone else) uses the meat, more power to ya. I'd never use 10 in a year, so I stop around 4 every year (only 2 this year).

13pointjomc, If that is a 130 lb doe, I apologize to you. From the pic, she barely looks 60. As I stated earlier, I also hunt Alabama and my sons and I try to limit our does to 100 + lbs. A 130 lb doe is definitely a good doe where we hunt. Again, my apologies and congrats on the nice doe.

13pointjomc 01-26-2011 04:42 PM

I promise it weighed 130. And if I kill alot of deer,I donate them to people who ain't able to hunt.

13pointjomc 01-26-2011 07:18 PM

@Wayspr, I guess from the angle of the pic shes downhill but I promise on the scales it said 130.

Your word is good enough for me, Doc

You should see what my wife thinks is 10"

wibowhunter3989 01-27-2011 08:16 PM

Well i agree with most the others. looks small to me. Ppl taking as many deer as they can and dont care about size or age is why ppl in wisconsin here are struggling with hunting. Our state used to be where you can pretty much shoot what you wanted, but unfortunately the DNR here and in other states did the same thing and gave out ****loads of tags to increase their income and unfortunately depleated the deer population to nothing. I have been fortunate to have ppl hunting around me that are conservative.
