I use one to hunt bear and mountain lion, 44 mag.. I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk, Two Super RedHawks, and a Smith & Wesson model 329 PD Airlight, all 44 Mags.

I have carried my S&W 686 .357 numerous times but have yet to shoot a deer with it. I have had several chances but just didn't think to use the pistol because I had a rifle in my hands. :) Once, I had a big bodied 5 ptr right under my stand. I shot him pointing straight down with my rifle. Didn't even occur to me to pull the .357 instead.

One day I hope to get one with the pistol but I guess to answer your question, I don't hunt exclusively with a pistol.

I use a Ruger Super blackhawk, .44 mag. Had it scoped for a while but pulled it off, there is something about a simple wheelgun and open sights I prefer. Have taken Whitetails, Hogs and Bears with it.

I've used a TC Contender to successfully hunt deer, elk and antelope if that counts as a handgun. Super 14 in 7-30 Waters.

I have successfully killed a caribou with a Glock 10mm in Alaska. Stalked up to within 20 yards and then shot in the neck. Hit the ground instantly! I had my Browning A Bolt with me for back up if needed.

Hand gun hunting is addictive, especially if your no good with a bow, like me. There are many benefits, such as easy to carry, easy to maneuver in stand, easy to keep out of bad weather, etc. I started by accident, I forgot my rifle at home and drove to deer hunting spot, all I had was the Super Blackhawk, and I got a buck that day! Game on!
