Deer Hunting in Doubt for Me
This past Sunday I hurt myself playing soccer and just went to the doctor' s today for a full assessment.
It turns out that I tore some muscles just above the achilles tendon (so apparently the achilles is intact) however there is no idea if it is 50% attached or 10% attached. The doctor says he hasn' t seen this before (leave it to me to be the first). So, I go in for surgery tonight (Wed) at 5pm. I may be home tomorrow or Friday depending on pain management and will be in a cast for six weeks. Then I' ll have a brace for another six. That' s three months and there' s only 107 days until I am supposed to go hunting, so I should be there as a full time watcher, God willing. MAN THIS REALLY SUCKS!:(:( |
RE: Deer Hunting in Doubt for Me
Somehow I think you will figure out a way of going no matter what, as long as you are hunting with some one else willing to drag a deer out for you. Good luck on the surgery today.

TAZ hit the nail on the nail on the head.....and Good Luck with the surgery. My Dad was a double amputee and he hunted (with help, admitted) from his wheelchair. Naturally he had to have the right firearm (in his case a Ruger .44Mag) that would allow comfortable shooting, and help was needed in getting to and from his stand but the point here is where' s there' s a will, there' s a way. It may be different than the norm but at least you may be back in the deer woods

Cheer up! you' ll be fine. All you will need is a little assistance. If a parapaligic can hunt so can you. I have a friend that is refined to a wheel chiar and buddy he hunts like a mad man.

Find a good stump to sit on in the next 107 days and when deer season rolls around put you self there and get your deer.
Best of liuck to ya. BBJ |

Good luck on the surgery, and you' ve got plenty of time to find a helper for hunting season!

RE: Deer Hunting in Doubt for Me
You will be there. I' ve had enough surgeries to know, do what the doc says, do the therapy and do it right, and you can make it. I was practicing climbing a tree 6 weeks after having my right knee replaced. But I busted my butt in therapy to make it happen. Good luck to you.

RE: Deer Hunting in Doubt for Me
Turn that frown upside down Tax , last year I hunted with a buddy who has one arm and shoots a .50 single shot ML pistol . Take it easy and do your therapy religiously , even though it hurts like crazy . Meanwhile , find somebody to go with you to do the donkey work , and focus on the hunt . It helps if you think of it as just another challenge . I' d go with ya but your gun / hunting laws suck . :D

Good luck with your surgery. Also you won' t be shooting with your foot, you' ll just have to find a comfortable spot and sit and wait. you' ll do fine:)
