Yes, it was quartering to us and at a pretty sharp angle. Bullet traveled almost the whole length of the deer and performed exactly as it should have. I have been killing deer with cup and core bullets like the Powershocks and CoreLockts since 1978 and have not had any problems.

Edited to add: If I had a rifle that would only shoot premium bullets or larger animals were in the mix, then I'd probably use a premium bullet.

k thanx for clarifying,i never use premium bullets except for an elk i shot years ago,was a winchester fail safe.iv just had bad luck with the fedral powershok bullets,i believe these use to be called fedral hunter classics?they came in 24 in a box.only bullets i ever seen come apart at factory speeds.

they work fine alot of deer have been killed with powershok or any brand std bullet but now a premium bullet is needed it amazes me the pioneers could kill deer and buffalo with a simple lead bullet but now we ned a premium bullet to do the same job and also price has nothing to do with it the 14.00 a box powershoks used to be around 7.00 a box a few years back and they still seem to kill the same and the deer havent noticed a difference

My Vanguard 270 shoots them well. I have only killed a coyote with them. dropped him in his tracks. 25 yards. thru the breast plate . No exit.

Good job! Put the bullet through the boiler room and you will recover the animal. As another poster stated, those bullets have been working for a lot of years.
