How long do you stay in the woods?
 

How long do you usually stay in the woods? I usually get in the wods about 30 minutes before daylight and leave at 10:00. Which is about 4 hours.

Anyone ever stay in from daylight to dark? One of my dads friends does this... He fills his buck tags every year with big bucks too lol

It depends on where I'm hunting but usually if I'm close to home, daylight to noon and then back into the woods at 2:00 and out after dark. When I'm hunting a really remote area, I go in at first light and stay until dark.

I go in 30-60 minutes before light and come out about 9-10. Then like the other guys I will go back in around 2. What time of day and when during the season does your dads friend fill his buck tags? A buddy of mine says to sit all day during the rut. Especially near the bedding areas. Bucks with chase does out of them. But generally peak hours of movement for me is around 7-730 am and 30-45 minutes before dark.

I wish I could adopt this reasoning. You must be right, because we see alot of bucks in fields moving while going to eat lunch.

It just seems like its all or nothing.

Only time I kill alot of deer at midday is sika deer hunting.

I'll go in on my days off about 30 mins before dark and stay until about 9:30.

Then also on days off I'll go back in at about 2:30 and stay until dark around 4:30.

I'm in the stand about 30-45 before first light and stay until 9am. Then again from 3pm until dark. My middle-aged back can't handle any more than that.

Bowhunting- 30 min before light to about 10 am
Rut- All day sits
Gun Hunting- 30 min before light till dark. All day sits!!

When I'm seein deer i'll sit from an hour til light until dark... which can be like a 14 hour sit....I did that 3 times this season but i usually sit out between 4 and 6 hours in the morning and 3 to 4 in the evening
