I picked up the H&R single shot 12 ga two years ago after my brother shot his for a year. This gun didnt take to long to sight in and it has been really accurate.

I took two deer with it yesterday 30yrds and 75yrds and I took three with it last year. I have not yet needed a second shot but it is really easy to reload and I had another round in before the deer went down yesterday.

My brother has been shooting the Remington Core Lokt and has like them. I have been shooting the Hornaday SST 300gr rounds.

I think it is a good price for the gun and I have not heard about acuracy issues with the H&R.

I have a H&R single 12. Sighted in at 150. 3" high at 100 7" low at 200. I use it to hunt 80 acres of cut corn. All my deer this year were under 100, but last year my closest shot was 160 and farthest was a little over 200. I aim for the middle of the shoulder at 150 and under and it drops them! I've got a bushnell sportview scope (only oneI could find that was made in th U.S.A.) and use Remington premier accutips 385 grain. Best slug gun I've ever owned!

Just another comment about H@R. My buddy first got the 20 about 5 or 6 years ago and when we were sighting it in we could hit a cherry tomato at 100 yards no problem. thats what made me buy mine. I love it! (I wish it was lighter!!:-))

It was Deerslayer for years.........................actually, it's decades now.

However, right now I think the Savage 220F is the talk of the town !

Everyone who puts a slug barrel on their shotgun finds improved accuracy though.
