Default Slug performance.

Got fantastic groups out of my 870 with two different slugs...now for the end performance.

Does anyone have any experience hitting whitetails with either the Winchester Supreme-Partition Gold or the Federal - Barnes Expander Tip?

I'll take this out of a slug shotgun any day.
100 yard three shot groups. All were 2.75" slugs.

Winchester Supreme-Partition Gold

Federal - Barnes Expander Tip

Those are some sweet groups you got there. Good shooting!! My wifes remington 11-87 premier with cantilever, full rifled barrel LOVES Winchester Platnuim Tips. My Knight Disc Extreme used to love the Barnes Expanders till I started loading the SST's. My 20 ga. Mossberg Trophy Slugster really likes the Federal Barnes Expanders as well. All 3 are proven performers.

The Platinum tips were very bad out of this shotgun. Surprised me a bit that one Winchester slug was very good and the other was very bad.

I have a Mossberg 930 semi-auto. I have shot different rounds out of. But I found that the Winchester Partition Golds are the best match for the gun. I have shot a 12 pt and, a 8 pt in the last two years at a little under a 100 yds stopped them dead in there tracks. But the only problem is that they're getting harder to find.

Try the Barnes TEZ much easier to load than the older expanders. They shoot great groups and expand like a Barnes.

I was using the partition golds until this year. I liked them alot, and did hit a big buck at 200yards one year with them. This was the second shot on him since he ran off after the first hit then stopped again. Second bullet did major damage also. I switched to the remington accu-tips this year though. I tried hornaday sst, winchester xp3, partition golds and accutips at the range this year, and found the accutips fly best out of my gun. I wish my groups were as tight as yours though, those are impressive!
