7mm rem mag with 150 grain core-lokts.
My choice exactly. Only $18 a box and does everthing the higher price bullets do. Atleast what I've seen.

I have Remington Model Seven 7mm08 (Bushnell Banner scope, CoreLokt 140 gr) and my dad's 1950 Marlin 336 30-30 (William's peep site). I still love the latter when hunting swampy/brushy areas. That gun is a workhorse and the sites haven't had to be adjusted in decades. I also have a couple of cool pictures of my dad holding that gun next to downed deer in the 1950s. Just holding that gun brings back a lot of memories.

The 7mm08 is also an inherited gun from my dad...but he got that later in life and it doesn't hold nearly the sentimental value to me as the Marlin (although I use the Remington more now than the Marlin).

My first year hunting, and I've yet to take a deer with it but I'm in some fairly heavy woods and I've been taking my Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull with some 240gr Hornady XTP ammo (1900fps/ around 1900ft lb). Figure I won't get a shot opportunity longer than 50 yards in there anyway so it won't handicap me at all.
