I use the .280 rem. with 140gr Speer SP or 140gr Nosler BT's Loaded with 58.5 gr. of Reloader 19 and CCI magnum primers!

Favorite for me is my .257 Roberts. A classic old cartridge that still gets the job done.

.308, 30-06, 30-30 and-or a 7mm mag. I usually stay around 150gr Hornady's or Core Loct.
It's just according if I'll be hunting a bushy area or an open field type setting.

Due to this great economy we have now, I've had to sell my bolt guns(Rem. model 7 in 243, Winchester Featherweight in 300wsm) the beginning of this year (kept the ML). So, now my favorite gun/caliber is whatever I can borrow from friends. Luckly, I have a couple of friends that don't hunt anymore, but still have their guns. My choices now are either a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem, or a Remington Mohawk 600 in 6mm Rem, both of which are fine shooters and would'nt hesitate to take either into the swamps down here.

The bigger, the better, I always say! The ammo is expensive, but I carry my WBY .300 95% of the time. Shoots fantastically, and it is what I am most comfortable with. The other 5% of the time I carry my .270 WIN. It is a great shooting gun as well, but I just don't like it as much. Also, I have enough ammo for my Weatherby to last me at least a decade...makes it easier to go ahead and pop them off. I shoot one round before I carry it out to make sure it is still locked in, and then the only shots I take are at critters. I have had several people flame me for deer hunting with a .300 WBY MAG, but it doesn't get me down. I have more than enough confidence in the gun when I am out, and that is what matters to me. For all those who are confident in smaller calibers, I am very happy for them. I know they will kill deer just as dead. All about each individual.

That was long...sorry. My favorite caliber is .300 WBY MAG.

(betcha 30-30 and 30-06 are most popular on this thread ) and why do you think your caliber is superior? please no fighting, just inform us about why you use it. i like the .270 for its versatility and its flat trajectory, also the variety of loads you can make and buy.

I shoot a .270 Savage, and they are falling right where they stand when hit with a 150 grain Winchester Core Lock. No doubt about it!
