RE: SE Oklahoma Deer Hunting

I grew up in SE Ok, not far from the Three Rivers area. There are lots of deer there and lots of hunters. It can get pretty crowded during ML and Gun seasons. It borders AR, so the terrain is small mountains and hills with mature timber (pine and oak), some clearcuts and grown up clearcuts. You can do some stalking around the edge of clearcuts, but for the most part you find a good stand usually on a ridge and sit on it. There are always some real nice deer taken there, but they are usually taken by those who invest lots of time into finding them. As usual, an enourmous deer was taken in the area last year by a young boy who was set on a stand by his dad. The only time glassing would work is over a clearcut, but that isn' t usually done. Rattling isn' t very productive in that area either.
