Gun Deer Only

Opening day of NY southern zone took this 8 point. Very solid rack for this heavily hunted area and the biggest bodied buck I have ever taken.
Then this past Saturday I was able to take this 8 point in the same stand with my muzzleloader. Both deer were bang-flops and died approx. 10 yards from each other. First muzzleloader deer and first deer with new rifle.

I have a couple of different deer rifles but I would highly recommend my favorite one, a Remington 270 pump. I got the special purpose one with the flat matte finish instead of a blued barrel. Go with whatever action you are most comfortable with but the 270 (the 30.06 is overrated and more than you need for deer) is a great all around gun for deer hunting. It has a flat trajectory and plenty of knockdown power without too much overkill.

This years buck
Isn't much, probably should have let him walk. I've hunted hard this year for the big boy, but on our lease they are just now starting to scrape. All the big boys are still very nocturnal and not interested in chasing yet. Got married the last day of season here in Alabama, so this past weekend was it for me.
